Nur – Kurt Tucholsky (tekst) / Kees Arntzen (muziek en vertaling)
Kurt Tucholsky (1890-1935) was a German writer and poet who criticized the Nazi-regime incessantly during the thirties. Many of his texts were put to music by famous composers like Hanns Eisler and others. Furthermore, Tucholsky was a master in giving voice to the feelings of the women of the roaring twenties.
The song ‘Nur’ is a complaint of a Berlin lady in search of love: why is it that men can think only of a single subject – nur, nur ‘das’.
Kees Arntzen set the text to a ‘swing-waltz’ melody with guitar accompaniment in bossa-nova style.
